Our top five places to go to celebrate Chinese New Year

Mark the beginning of the year of the fire monkey by dining at these five places.

In Chinese beliefs, three is considered not enough, while four represents bad luck. Five, however, is just perfect. A Chinese New Year dinner would usually include five types of dishes that symbolise the five elements: wood, fire, metal, earth, and water. Now, before we go crazy with the number five, here are our top five picks of restaurants for you to celebrate your Chinese New Year at.

1. Hotel Borobudur Jakarta
The hotel’s Teratai Chinese Restaurant is offering a Salmon Yee Shang that is available in three different sizes, with prices starting from Rp.388,000++ for the small portion. A special buffet package is available at Bogor Café from February 7-8 for Rp.408,000++ per adult and Rp.218,000++ per child, which includes a wide array of dishes including dim sum, seafood, and many other Chinese delicacies.

2. InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza
A selection of Around The World dishes will be served at two of the hotel’s dining venues – Rasa and Scusa – for your reunion dinner. 3. Hotel Indonesia Kempinski
A special Chinese New Year feast will be held from February 1-5 at the hotel’s Signature’s Restaurant, which is priced at Rp.318,000++ for lunch and Rp.390,000++ for dinner. The Chinese New Year’s brunch and dinner is set to be available from February 6-8 for Rp.515,000++ per person, which will include a wide array of Chinese delights, such as Peking duck, suckling pig, roasted pork belly, Yee Shang, and a dim sum station.

4. Pullman Jakarta Central Park
From January 15-February 13, Pullman Jakarta Central Park’s Collage All Day Dining is offering a Chinese New Year promotion on every Saturday and Sunday. Priced at Rp.298,000++ per person, guests can enjoy a yum cha brunch from 11am-3pm. On February 7, the hotel’s Pullman Grand Ballroom will be hosting a special Chinese New Year dinner priced at Rp.888,888++ per person, or Rp.6,888,000 for a table of eight. This will give you the chance to devour its set menu, which consists of Braised Bird’s Nest with Crab Meat and Asparagus, Roasted Duck Hong Kong-Style, and Salmon and Yellow Fin Tuna Yee Shang.
