Bogor: Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur

“The mixture delivered sweet, spicy and sour flavours that gave a refreshing tang to your palates.”

For some people, including yours truly, snacking has been a way of life. In Bogor, Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur proves to be one of the most delicious snacks I have ever tasted.

Nestling inside Jalan Suryakencana, Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur was established in 1968. As a specialist in selling Asinan Jagung Bakar, Pak Sabur only owned a modest cart, where he stored all of the ingredients and produced the snack. Since Pak Sabur passed away, the cart has been handed to his son who now continues to sell Pak Sabur’s simple food creation.

There’s nothing fancy about Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur. Basically, it’s a grilled sweet corn removed from a cob and placed on a plate. However, before serving, the seller will be adding cucumber, sugar and kuah asinan (Bogor fruit salad dressing made from vinegar and chilli) to the plate. Despite the simple serving method, I should warn you that Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur is extremely addictive. As a combination of vinegar, chilli, sugar, and sweet corn, the mixture delivered sweet, spicy and sour flavours that gave a refreshing tang to your palates.

To accompany the Asinan Jagung Bakar, Pak Sabur is also selling kerupuk asinan Bogor (a brown colour crackers usually found in Asinan Bogor). I’d highly suggest you to grab the cracker and dip it into the kuah asinan. The savoury cracker flavour and sweet-sour kuah asinan were really addictive. I can guarantee that you will not be able to stop munching. Combining sweet corn and sweet-sour flavours, the snack sent a refreshing flavour to your palates. When you dip a cracker into the kuah asinan, I can guarantee that you will not be able to stop munching.

There is one downside of Asinan Jagung Bakar Pak Sabur, though. Located on the roadside, the place comes without chairs or tables. To solve this issue, usually the customers prefer to bring the Asinan Jagung Bakar home. But when the dish is this good, I think a little bit of difficulty wouldn’t be a problem.
