If a survey was ever made on Indonesians’ most favourite after-midnight nibble, I reckon Martabak Manis (sweet pancake) would be in the top three. On this edition of Food Wars, we pit two heavyweight Martabak Manis purveyors against one another. The legendary Martabak Pecenongan 65A is loved by many for decades and is the pioneer of the famous – or infamous, depending on how you view this sinful treat–Martabak Toblerone, which we opted to have for this occasion. On the other side of the ring is Martabakku Menteng with its best-selling Red Velvet Martabak with cream cheese and Oreo. Let the fight begin.
Mere words can’t describe its thick-yet-soft and moist dough. The rich and milky feel from the melted Toblerone chocolate bar makes it even tastier.
Regularly crowded, which leads to quite a long wait. There’s no parking available, and no proper waiting area as well. Most customers tend to just sit outside of the shop.

Chewy and moist, it offers a well-balanced combination between the salty cream cheese and the sweet Oreo. Its service is relatively swift too; thanks to the two separate workstations for dine-in and takeaway.
Eating too much of this sugary and creamy treat could incite a nausea attack. Parking space is very limited, and the shop can get very hot when at its full capacity.
