There are countless of Mie Ayam (chicken noodle) surveyors spread in every nook and cranny of the Big Durian – from roadside hawkers with their pushcarts to fancy modern restaurants. Two of the most celebrated out all are Mie Ayam Gondangdia and Mie Ayam Yunus, and we pit them both head to head to see who would win.
Mie Ayam Gondangdia
The key to its success is the chewy texture of its noodles that is smooth and succulent. Its zesty chicken broth is also a plus point as well. Having a number of outlets across the city enables its regulars to never miss a day without tucking in to its noodles.
The Bakso (meatball) that comes with the noodles is rather bland in terms of taste and texture, while the chicken meat slices bring down the overall quality of the mixture with its somewhat insipid flavour.
Jl. Cikini IV, No. 12A,
Open daily from 10am-9pm
Mie Ayam Yunus
Its home-made noodles have resulted in the shop consistently delivering a rich and delightful mixture. The well-seasoned chicken meat slices are cooked to perfection, while the juicy beef tendon meatballs add further verve to the proceedings.
Some of you may not find its regularly overcrowded joint to your liking, and the limited parking space available doesn’t help.
